Bird Watching in the Northern Tian-Shan – “Birds of Issyk-Kul”, 13 days and 7 days

An alternative 7-day tour option is presented below

“Birds of the water areas of the north of the Chui valley and Issyk-Kul”. Climatic conditions determine the life of birds. Tian-Shan is distinguished by the diversity and contrast of its climatic conditions. This determines the habitat of various species of birds in different environmental conditions of Kyrgyzstan. There are different natural landscapes in the Northern Tian-Shan. Here you can feel the hot lowlands of intermountain depressions, mid-mountain alpine meadows and high-mountainous rocky valleys inside mountains. Thus, during the trip we can observe birds in different climatic conditions. The program includes bird observations in the water areas of the north of the Chui Valley, on the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake, in foothills and in valleys of large rivers. The program runs from April to November. (It is better to carry out in late April or early October). The route begins with ponds and from the Ala-Archa reservoir located 15 kilometers north of the Bishkek city, then goes to the east of the country along the Chuy valley through the Boom gorge, further along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake, through the valleys of the large rivers Jergalan and Tyup and turns along the northern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake to the west on the return trip. The change in natural conditions during the trip is associated with a change in absolute altitudes from 700 to 2000 m above the sea level. The duration of the program is 13 days. In order to see the spring and autumn mass migration flight of various birds that stop for a short rest in the lakes of Kyrgyzstan, the most favorable time is April and October.
